In the centre of the Hohe Tauern National Park, you will find Bad Gastein situated in fresh mountain air, with a clear 1,000 metres above sea level. It consists of a number of architectural buildings which blend naturally into the mountainous surroundings. This city is world renowned for its relaxation and recreation in pure mountain air, thermal waters and warm climate. Also known for its natural wonder is Klagenfurt. Klagenfurt is the capital of the Austrian state of Caritis, which lies on the eastern Alps. Mountains and lakes characterise the Carinthian landscape, and during the winter months, also offers a number of ski resorts. During the warmer months, hiring bikes, or walking is the preferred mode of transport, as it lets you see and explore the outdoors. Whilst exploring the natural landscape, take a free historic tour of the main cities attractions such as; the Klagenfurt Cathedral and Minimundus which contain a lot of architectural styles and models on display such as the Eiffel Tower, Big Ben and the Great Wall of China. Baden, situated in Lower Austria is largely known for its music and all great Austrian composes, offers a huge variety of baths and springs, parks and gardens, taverns and sport facilities. Snow through the winter months attracts a number of visitors, and has a lot of cross-country skiing opportunities. Also, Baden is known for its markets and wellness facilities. Visit local medieval sights, and emerge yourself in the local culture and heritage. A neat tow of courtyards, antique churches and ancient houses in the heart of a vineyard country is where you will find Krems. Visit overly ornate churches such as St. Viet, which is rich with gilt and class. Continue to head north into the city of Mutters. The main attractions include skiing and ice mountain climbing. Nestled away in the mountains, makes this city secluded, and is known for its architectural houses which are covered with flowers during the warmer months. Villach which is the second largest and oldest city in Carinthia, again offers hiking and skiing through the Alps in winter. Whilst there, visit the Museum der Stadt Villach, and learn about the history of Villach. Or, visit the bell tower of St Jakob which has an impressive tower, 94 metres high, dating back to 1847, and enjoy a wonderful view of the city. Lastly, take in the natural highlights and old buildings at Zell am See, which is the capital of Salzberg. It is set between Lake Zeller, and magnificent mountains. Take the opportunity to visit the mountainous areas, or many of the old buildings. Kastnerturm or Constable’s Tower is the oldest building in this city, dating back to the 12th century. Castle Rosenburg, from the 16th century was once an elegant residence of the free state of Salzburg, but today is a town hall and gallery. Also from the 16th century is the late-Gothic choir in the town’s Parish Church. Whilst visiting these old buildings, take a tour inside the folklore museum which comprises of old costumes, exhibits and artefacts showing the traditional life of Salzburg.
