The Pantanal is one of the largest and most fascinating freshwater wetland ecosystems on the planet. Situated in the western part of Brazil, it is one of the countries biggest tourist attractions due to its vast range of wildlife. Unlike the density of the Amazon where animal species are harder to see, the Pantanal wetlands are open spaces where the wildlife is visible to most observers. The Pantanal Conservation Area has been listed as part of UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites.
