• Zubizuri – Designed by Santiago Calatrava, this pedestrian footbridge is one of the most well known modern pieces of architecture in Bilbao. Also known as the White Bridge, the Zubizuri runs across the Nervión River linking the Campo Volantin and Uribitarte.
• Museo de Bellas Artes – One of the most popular museums in Spain, Bilbao’s Fine Art Museum is home to three main collections, Classical, Contemporary and Basque Art. Not only does the extensive collection feature as the attraction but the surrounding gardens also present a wonderful display.

• Guggenheim Museum – The Guggenheim Museum designed by American architect Frank Gehry’s presents an attraction inside and out. This steel and chrome creation is a drawcard in itself, but then so is the exceptional range of modern and contemporary art, works which may include Picasso, Kandinsky and Braque depending on which collections are featured.
• Plaza de Toros de Vista Alegre & Museo Taurino – Home to the most traditional Spanish activity, bullfighting, the Plaza de Toros de Vista Alegre comes alive between March and October with the highlight being the Semana Grande, attracting the best bullfighters in the country. The arena also includes the Museo Taurino, housing a collection of bullfighting costumes, artefacts and weapons.
• Casco Viejo – Bilbao’s famous ‘seven streets’ is a neighbourhood with exactly that, seven streets. Perhaps one of the most colourful areas in Bilbao, Casco Viejo is made up of many local shops and bars, open-air food markets and churches as well as being home to the Catedral de Santiago and the Plaza Nueva.

• Playa de Bakio – With a drive of less than 40 minutes from Bilbao this quiet family beach is worth the trip. Unknown to many tourists, this local spot is well maintained and most importantly well clear of crowds.
