Regional Hotspots

• Seville – Located on the banks of the Guadalquivir River, the city offers much to see and is packed with churches and Moorish architecture.  Popular attractions and activities of tourists include a cruise down the river, and visits to the Golden Tower (Torre de Oro), the imposing cathedral (La Giralda) The Maestranza Bullring, the old Santa Cruz quarter or a stroll through María Luisa Park.
• Granada – Granada is most famous as the home of the breathtaking Alhambra which dominates the entire city. Built in the 14th century, it comprises of a series of palaces and gardens of both Moorish and Spanish styles.  Also to be found in the city is the cathedral, which includes the royal chapel and is the burial place of the Catholic Kings Isabel and Ferdinand.  The city still retains a very Arab flavour and you can check out the Hamam and Arab tea rooms to set the tone.
• Cordoba – Home to the Mezquita; the Jewish Quarter, a labyrinth of winding, narrow streets, the ancient Jewish synagogue; the Alcazar (Fortress) and many picturesque courtyards and squares. The city is known for its annual “most beautiful courtyard” contest held in May each year.  No wonder this city was once the most civilised in the Western world.
• Costa del Sol –  With over 150 kilometres of coastline it is no wonder this is one of Spain’s most popular tourist destinations. The many beaches can be enjoyed year-round due to the mild climate and the province of Málaga also offers a variety of outdoor activities.  Some other notable locations are Marbella, Puerto Banus and Torremolinos.  Explore the area by car which will give you access into the many quaint coves and tiny inland villages.
• Route of the White Villages – Andalucía is dotted with villages of white-washed houses with red tiled roofs and cobblestone streets and is best explored by car.  Visit Arcos de la Frontera, (located on the side of a cliff) Jerez de la Frontera (home of Sherry) or Ronda with it’s magnificent 18th century bridge over the Tajo Gorge and experience the real Andalucía.
