Regional Hot Spots:

• Alicante – located between the sea and the mountains, this city enjoys a year round mild climate which is ideal for holidaymakers with almost eternal sunshine. With many historical buildings, the city offers cathedrals, churches, a beautiful boulevard, great shopping streets, lots of sightseeing attractions and a lovely harbour area.
• Valencia – the city offers everything and is a popular summer destination.  With great beaches and a depth of beautiful architecture both old and new and some really innovative designs, the city exudes an air of sophistication.  Hosting the America’s Cup race in 2007 has really put this city firmly on the map as a major player in the world’s eye.  Famous for Paella Valenciana and home to the amazing ‘Fallas’ festival each March, where huge bold figures and statuesque designs are on show for a whole week then offered up in a single night burning extravaganza.  A site not to be missed.
• Gerona – A great city north of Barcelona in Catalunya province that has a rich history and lovely narrow alleys with cobbled streets.  Set deep in the Costa Brava the city offers history as well as good walking and hiking in the nearby mountains of the Pyrenees.
• Sitges – About 1 hour (43 km) south of Barcelona is the lovely little town of Sitges. Increasingly popular with overseas visitors and a favourite holiday destination for Spaniards, the town has much local flavour to offer in its historic old quarter, sandy beaches, cafes and restaurants.
