Champagne is located east of Paris and produce sparkling white wine, in particular the well known Moёt and Chandon. The region’s high latitude and cold temperatures year round make it ideal for growing grapes suitable for sparkling wine. The North of France if found between Champagne and Normandy at the top of France. Its capital city is Lille and it is known as one of the friendliest cities in France. Regional Hotspots: Cote d’Or- is found in Burgundy and is filled with architectural treasures. It is home of the Morvan regional park and one of France’s finest abbeys. Flavigny found in Cot d’Or, is a small medieval town with alleyways and religious buildings. It is also where the movie “Chocolat’ was mostly filmed. Châlons- en-Champagne- is a small town, about the quarter of the size of Rheims. It’s also been named ‘little Venice’ because of its numerous rivers and canals flowing all through the town. It’s found about sixty minutes from Paris and filled with many churches, the oldest being Saint – Alpin with a gothic style design. The capital of Châlons-en-Champagne is Marne and the town used to be called Châlons –sur-Marne, until its name was recently changed in 1998.
