Corsica is an island situated in the Southwest of France and West of Italy. Its close proximity to both countries has highly influenced the island’s cuisine. Corsica is the fourth largest island in the Mediterranean Sea and is very mountainous and more then 200 beautiful beaches.  Tourism plays a very important role in the Corsican economy and tourists are easily drawn to the island by the GR20, the most famous hiking trail in Europe as well as the Tour de la Parata, which is located on a cliff top and reveals views of the Iles Sangunaires. The Scandola Nature Reserve is another main attraction on the island and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Island Hot Spots:

• Ajaccio- is the island’s capital and is located on the west coast. It’s year round mild temperatures and Mediterranean style houses attract many visitors. Ajaccio is the birthplace of the famous Napoleon Bonaparte with many streets and places named in his honour. The Fesch Museum can also be found which holds many Italian paintings dating back to the 14th to 19th centuries.
• Bonifacio- is an old town located in southern Corsica. It is situated high on a cliff edge with many medieval houses and narrow streets. The lively marina contains coastal walks and chic restaurants with a breathtaking mountainous backdrop. One of the main attractions of Bonifacio is Filitosa, a prehistoric site in the Tanavo Valley with many olive plantations.
• Porto-Vecchio - also known as the ‘St Tropez’ of Corsica, is a popular tourist destination with white sandy beaches and turquoise waters. It is located at the very south of the island and the streets come to life in summer with music and entertainment. The Ospedale Forest is also a refreshing change from the hot coast with hiking trails suitable for all abilities.
