Part of the Cyclades and situated between Tinos, Siros, Paros and Naxos is Mykonos. This island provides an excellent example of unique Cycladic architecture set around a charming fishing village bay. With old windmills, whitewashed blue trimmed buildings and hundreds of tiny red roofed churches, this ruggedly beautiful island is known for its picturesque ports and famous beaches. Once an exclusive haven for the jet set, but now enjoyed by almost everybody.

Island Hotspots:

• Mykonos Town – Quiet by day and full of life and colour throughout the night, Mykonos Town is the main port and transport centre to most of the beaches around the island. It has cobbled streets crammed with shops and bars and is an atmospheric port with an exciting nightlife guaranteed to kick on until dawn.
• Platis Yialos – Located south of Mykonos Town is Platis Yialos. This white sand and turquoise blue water beach holds the reputation of being one of the island’s best beaches. Take a boat trip to one of the many remote beaches nearby during the day while dining at one of the many beachfront tavernas and restaurants at night.
• Windmills - From as early as the 16th century, windmills were and still are one of the most recognised landmarks of Mykonos. They are the classical features of Mykonos’ landscape.
• Little Venice – At the southwest end of the port is Little Venice. Here the buildings have been built right on the sea's edge with their balconies hanging over the water. It is one of the most famous and cosmopolitan area of Mykonos Town filled with trendy cafes and bars and offers an amazing sunset.
• Delos – One of Greece's most famous archaeological sites is Delos, an island located 2 km west of Mykonos. This entire island has been declared a national museum.
• Aghios Ioannis – This quiet seaside town has a great beach, tavernas and a small fishing harbour. Movie fanatics will remember this town fondly as it was the setting for the film ‘Shirley Valentine’.
• Omos – Known as one of the best swimming and boating areas on the island, Omos has a fine sandy beach with several tavernas situated on the beachfront.
