Referred to as the “Green Island” Mljet is situated 30 kilometres south west of Dubrovnik.  The islands key attractions include Mljet National Park with dense lush forests and two natural salt lakes.  With its combination of small quaint villages, lush forests, vineyards and tranquil surroundings Mljet is described by some as one of the most beautiful islands of the world. 

Island Hot Spots:

• Pomena – Pomena is the main harbour town of Mljet and is the residence of the islands only hotel. It offers a selection of restaurants, cafes and is a 15 minute walk from the Malo Jezero salt lake and the National Park.  
• Polace – Polace is a small village with a charming bay on the Northern side of the island, It features restaurants, cafes and many Roman ruins including a Roman Palace which dates back to the 5th century.
• Babino Polje – One of the oldest areas on the island.  Its fertile land is used for cultivating olive and grapes.  Odysseus's cave is also situated under the village of Babino Polje. As the name suggests – the cave is named after the famous character Odysseus from the Odyssey – who as the legend states found his shelter in the cave after surviving a shipwreck on Mljet
• Mljet National Park – Covering the Western side of the island, the National Park is home to the famous salt lakes - Veliko and Malo Jezero. 
• 12th Century Benedictine Monastery – The monastery is located in the centre of the Veliko Jezero lake on the islet of St Mary. Whilst originally built in the 12th century, the monastery has been reconstructed several times.  The monastery is accessible by ferry from Pomena. 
• Saplunara & Blace Beaches– Located on the southeast tip of the island are the sandy beaches of Saplunara and Blace.  These beaches are surrounded by dense forest and because of their secluded position they receive a lot of sun, which makes the water very warm to bathe in.
