San Cristobal is in the State of Chiapas, a region east of Oaxaca and south of Villahermosa, which is Mexico’s most stunning scenic area, with indigenous life and culture. There are symbols and events here which reveal the area’s colonial heritage, but the people of San Cristobal are still established within its indigenous roots. Local people still live their lives in accordance with certain customs and rituals.
