Some of Oman’s finest architecture can be found in Nizwa, a traditional city surrounded by palm trees and gorgeous mountains. Its 17th-century fort is the country’s most popular tourist attraction, while the expansive souk offers a fascinating array of antiques and handicrafts.

Not far from Nizwa are the incredible Wahiba Sands, a sprawling range of desert dunes measuring up to 100 m high. Also nearby is the Raz Al-Jinz nature reserve, where thousands of endangered green turtles lay their eggs on the beach every year.
