Day 1 Istanbul - Canakkale (320 kms) In the morning, drive to Tekirdag and stop at Umurbey Vineyards to learn about turkish grapes and enjoy wine tasting experience. Continue to Gallipoli and lunch. In the afternoon, discover the peninsula: Visit the museum, the memorial at Lone Pine, stop at Anzac Cove where Australian and New Zealand Army Corps landed and see the Chnuk Bair where the bloodiest fights happened. Day 2 Canakkale - Izmir (335 kms) Visit the legendary city of Troy, the site of one of the most famous wars of ancient times, immortalized in Homer’s IIiad. Cross Kaz Mountains and visit the “Olive Oil Museum” which used to be a cold press olive oil factory. Drive along the Aegean coast to ancient Pergamum, the city where parchment was invented. Visit the Acropolis offering breathtaking views over the valley and discover the remains of the most impressive hellenistic theater in asia minor. In the afternoon, attend a cultural lecture about handwoven carpets, the most important handicraft in Turkey. Dinner and overnight in Izmir. (BLD)
Day 3 Izmir - Pamukkale (290 kms) Proceed to Ephesus and explore the antique city by wandering along its 2,000 year old marble streets to such famous sites as the theatre and the Celsus Library. Stop at a leather factory in Selcuk to attend a fashion show and to learn more about turkish leather. Climb up the mountains for lunch at very typical Sirince village. Visit the home of the Mother Mary and continue to Pamukkale and discover the ancient city of Hierapolis and enjoy the unique splendor of its cascading, hot springs. Dinner and overnight. (BLD)
Day 4 Pamukkale - Cappadocia (630 kms) Drive through the Silk Road to Konya to visit the Whirling Dervishes Convent which is now the Mevlana Museum. On road, stop to see women cooking “gozleme”, the very typical turkish pastry with cheese and parsley; degustation. In the afternoon, visit Sultanhan Caravanserail from XIIth century and underground galleries of Saratli where the first Christians hid themselves from rivals. Day 5 Cappadocia (80 kms) Entire day to enjoy the natural beauty and the cultural depth of this unique region : explore the frescoed interiors of Goreme's cave churches, which date from the 8th century, take a walk in Avcilar, Pasabagi and the valley of Dervent where you will admire the chimney like volcanic formations and a brief photo stop at Uchisar. In the afternoon, discover the unique artifacts of Cappadocia such as pottery, onyx etc. Dinner and overnight. (BLD)
Day 6 Cappadocia - Ankara - Safranbolu (565 kms) Drive to Ankara and visit the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations to explore Ankara's ancient past, which dates from the Paleolithic Age. Continue to Safranbolu, dinner and overnight in a historical ottoman mansion. (BLD)
Day 7 Safranbolu - Istanbul (410 kms) Safranbolu is a typical ottoman city that has survived to the present day and added to the list of UNESCO World Heritage due to its original architecture and well preserved historical buildings and authentic lifestyle.
