Located in Central Anatolia in Turkey this area is best known for it’s valleys, canyons, hills and unusual rock formations which are often called “fairy chimneys”. Created as a result of thousands of years of eroding winds and rain, the rock formations have been transformed through carving into dwellings and these present an otherworldly appearance. • Avanos  – 10 km from Goreme, this gorgeous village has been a pottery center for centuries.
• Kaymakli and Derinkuyu  – Visitors can view caves which have been transformed into underground cities.
