ITINERARY

Day 1 Rome

Arrive in Rome and make your own way to the hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure to explore Rome on your own. If time permits you may like to join a pre–booked optional sightseeing tour.

Day 2 Rome – Naples – Pompeii –Sorrento

After breakfast, travel to Sorrento. Stop in Naples for a walking tour, seeing sites such as the Mergellina neighbourhood, Castel dell’Ovo, Plebiscito Square and Santa Lucia. Have lunch in a restaurant en route to Pompeii and visit the excavations of the famous Roman city. Drive along the Sorrentine coast, arriving in Sorrento for dinner. BLD

Day 3 Sorrento – Capri – Sorrento

Board a boat for the island of Capri where you will have
the chance to enter the Blue Grotto. After lunch at a local restaurant spend time exploring the island before returning to the mainland for dinner. BLD

Day 4 Sorrento – Palermo

Spend a leisurely day exploring Sorrento. This afternoon, depart for Naples harbour, and check into your private cabin for your overnight ferry to Palermo. B

Day 5 Palermo

Arrive in Palermo and make your own way to your hotel before spending the day at leisure followed by dinner. D

Day 6 Palermo – Monreale – Palermo

After breakfast, depart for the nearby ancient royal town of Monreale with its ne Norman architecture followed by a walking tour of Palermo covering the classic sites including the impressive cathedral. Spend the rest of the afternoon exploring Palermo at leisure. BD

Day 7 Palermo – Erice – Marsala – Agrigento

Travel to the small hill top medieval village of Erice, then continue to Marsala the seaside town known for its wine. Pass the shing port of Mazara del Vallo en route to Agrigento.
On arrival visit the Valley of the Temples, which includes
the temple of Juno, the temple of Concorde, the temple of Hercules, and the temple of Jupiter. Check in to your hotel and relax over dinner. BD

Day 8 Agrigento – Noto – Syracuse – Taormina

After breakfast visit Noto, a city known for its recently renovated cathedral and baroque architecture. Stop in Syracuse to visit the Greek amphitheatre, the Ear of Dionysus, and the Roman Theatre. Continue to the island of Ortigia to see its medieval churches and palaces before arriving in Taormina. BD

Day 9 Taormina – Mt Etna – Taormina

This morning visit Mt Etna and if weather permits, you will have a chance to climb part of the mountain (1800m). Return to Taormina and spend the rest of the day at leisure. BD

Day 10 Taormina – Savoca – Forza D’Agro – Catania

Travel to the villages of Savoca and Forza D’Agrò where Francis Ford Coppola lmed some of the immortal scenes of the Godfather trilogy. This afternoon you will have free time to explore Catania’s UNESCO listed historical centre with its baroque palaces and Roman ruins before enjoying dinner at the hotel. BD

Day 11 Catania

Your tour ends this morning after breakfast. B
