Central Italy

It’s the Italy of so many movie scenes. Rolling countryside, medieval villages and vineyards stretching for as far as the eye can see. Tuscany and Umbria, where you can rent a villa or stay in a castle, are archetypal Italy. This is where you’ll visit Pisa, renowned for its leaning tower, but harbouring plenty more to see and do.

Most travels here start in Rome, where you can become immersed in the sights and sounds of the narrow streets, buzzing cafes and local life in general, or imagine living in a completely different era exploring historic sites, like the Colosseum, Roman Forum and Pantheon.

Equally as enchanting is the city of Florence, the birthplace of the Renaissance and home of the Duomo, Ponte Vecchio and Uffizi Gallery. But this part of the country hides some of its true treasures – the smaller cities and villages, where there’s a chance to see what it’s really like to live here. Visit the vineyards of Chianti, the pink-tinged medieval city of Siena, the hilltop town of Assisi, and San Gimignano, a walled town with 14 soaring towers.
