Day 1: Madrid

Arrive into Madrid and make your own way to your accommodation. Enjoy a welcome drink and an orientation session at the hotel this evening.

Day 2: Madrid

This morning take in the sights of Madrid on a guided tour.  Explore the medieval origins of the city. Drive through the courtesan district of the Hapsburgs with the Renaissance and Baroque styles.  Continue through the period of the Bourbons and the complex town planning schemes of Charles III. Admire the 19th century works such as the Prado Museum and end with the contemporary area of Madrid such as Gran Via, Castellana, as well as the financial areas of Modern Madrid. After your tour, walk to a traditional restaurant to savour the traditional and delicious “Paella”.  Remainder of the day is at your leisure. BL

Day 3: Madrid - Cordoba - Seville

This morning travel along the windswept and sparsely populated plateau region of Castilla La Mancha, famous for being Don Quixote land.  Enjoy a brief stop in the tiny town of Puerto Lapice before continuing through La Mancha. Cross through the natural border of Despeñaperros before arriving into the beautiful Andalucía region. Stop in the southern Andalusian city of Cordoba. Take in a guided tour of the splendid Mosques, Medinas, Cathedrals and other sites that will ease your mind and spirit as you stroll through the narrow winding streets of the Jewish Quarter. Enjoy lunch in a typical restaurant where you will have the chance to sample the traditional “Cordobesa” cuisine, such as the “Salmorejo” and the “Rabo de Toro”.  Continue the journey to the city of Seville, capital of Andalucía. Day 4: Seville

This morning embark on a guided panoramic and monumental tour of Seville.  Visit the Cathedral, the second largest in the Catholic world after St Peters in Rome. Enjoy the Santa Cruz quarter, a natural scene from Carmen and where the myth of Don Juan originated. During your city tour enjoy a coffee or soft drink at a rooftop coffee shop and enjoy the magnificent views of the old part of the city.  Continue with a Tapa’s lunch in two different but typical taberns.  Spend the afternoon at leisure further exploring the flavours of this city of light. Day 5: Seville - Granada

Depart Seville and continue east towards the Caliphate rod to the very heart of Andalucía, admiring the endless olive trees. Welcome to Granada, the last stronghold of the Moorish Kingdom. Visit the world-famous Alhambra Palace Complex and Generalife Gardens that have inspired several authors with its sights and sounds. This evening enjoy dinner in a typical Zambra Gitana with a Gipsy Flamenco Show in the Sacromonte Quarter. BD

Day 6: Granada - Toledo - Madrid

Time to head back to Madrid.  Travel northward towards the ancient city of Toledo.  Dramatically situated atop a gorge overlooking the Rio Tajo, known as the city of three cultures – Christians, Moorish and Jewish. These cultures have lived together harmoniously.  The whole town is a national monument of Spanish art, history and spirituality. Enjoy a short-guided tour of this historical old town through the narrow streets.  After your tour proceed to a famous Wine Cellar for a Tapas lunch and some wine tasting.  After lunch reboard your coach and travel the short hour drive back into Madrid. Day 7: Madrid

Your Andalusian experience finishes after breakfast at your hotel. B
